DECENTRALIZED WASTEWATER WORKING GROUP (DWWG)

The mission of the DWWG is to provide non-technical information, advice, and education to build the capacity of existing small  rural communities and wastewater professionals in the pursuit of alternative wastewater solutions.

Its goals are to:

1.       Promote decentralized wastewater alternatives and management options

2.       Educate and disseminate information

3.       Facilitate and provide resources

Communities seeking DWWG assistance must be willing to:

Ø       Form a local stakeholder group

Ø       Conduct public meetings

Ø       Use the Qualifications Based Selection (QBS) process when hiring consultants

Ø       Engage regulatory contacts early to explore options and creative solutions

Ø       Commit to management and a sufficient fee structure for a sustainable solution
